Begining in 1879, Hyde Park women could vote in school elections. This female voter register records female voters from 1889 to 1911 and includes women born in the United States, England, and Scotland. Occupations include stenographer, music teacher, dressmaker, "at home," and "metaphysician."

Hyde Park was home to many political groups and individuals. The records of the town's Republican Caucus show regular meetings and active political engagement in local and national politics.
